Do you know Why its Hard to Find Work in South Africa?
This question: “Do you know why it’s hard to find work in South Africa?” crops up in our website traffic statistics, in some form or another, regularly.
In short, no we don’t know why it’s hard to find work in South Africa. We do of course have our own opinions, but, opinions are just that, and opinions differ from person to person, which invalidates the inclusion of opinion as being an argument.
If you do know why it’s so hard to find work in South Africa, what are you doing about it? Just running around moaning about how hard it is to find work in South Africa?
Are you looking for make money online opportunties where people display proof of their earnings? So you think if you join the same opportunities you’re also going to make a ton of money? All you have to do is join and then sit back and make a living? Wrong! You have to work.
What we do know, is that it is not difficult to make a living in South Africa. Too many people just don’t seem to want to, or don’t want to take the time to read how to.
This article is as valid for a 19 year old school-leaver as it is for a 45 year old who has just been retrenched. It is equally valid for any person, from any cultural or ethnic background.
To a person without transport, owning a bicycle is a tangible goal towards which to work. Owning a scooter would be the next step, but owning a car would seem to be an unattainable dream. To persons who already have a car, their dream may be to own another car. Of course, there are those who already have two cars, and they may want to acquire a third car, possibly a 4×4, or a bling-mobile.
Okay you ask, what has this got to do with finding work in South Africa? It has everything to do with finding work in South Africa, and it also has nothing to do with finding work in South Africa.
Too many people associate work with Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, please your boss at all costs, complacency. Sadly, this a a state of mind that is instilled into our very core, from the day we are able to recognize the face value of a coin. We are told, by our parents, teachers, ministers, friends, and associates that “If you want anything in life you need to work for it!” Guess what, they are right!
Then they go on and say:”Go and get a job”. Now they’re wrong. The implication in this statement is that you need to get off the couch, and just walk into your dream job, with a dream boss, and earn a dream salary. The implication is D-E-A-D W-R-O-N-G! Read three paragraphs up, dreams are unattainable. What you need is to WANT!
You need to WANT that scooter, or car, or bling-mobile. You must WANT a great income. If you don’t WANT anything, you’ll never get it. Never.
So, what am I trying to say here? Sure you want a job. Everybody does. But the question needs to be re-asked, like this: do you WANT a job? Uh uh, not really, ‘cos of a thousand reasons why it will affect my social life, my drinking time, the time I need to go to bed, the time I need to wake up.
We have a problem Houston…
We didn’t hear you say that you don’t want a job because you KNOW you won’t really enjoy doing it.
Silence… Wait for it… Wait… It’s coming…
Ching…
And so the penny drops. Statistics tell us that 86% of all employees don’t like their work. The other 14% must be the owners or bosses, or CEO’s, or whatever it is takes their fancy as a title. Now, how about I proposition you?
My proposition is this:
Stay on your couch, a little while longer;
Decide, if you don’t already know what it is, what you really enjoy doing.
Turn your passion into a business.
You could try reading a few articles on this site – Work From Home Ideas, workfromhomeideas.co.za and its blog Work From Home South Africa – to get started. You have to start somewhere.
By the way, work is just a job, and job is an acronym for Just Over Broke. Why would you want just a job? Wouldn’t you rather have your own successful home business?
