Why Freelancers Should Ask for Payment in Advance
You want to eat some homemade peppermint crisp fridge tart. You go the local Spar or grocery store and do NOT pay as you walk out with your ingredients of cherries, caramel, peppermint crips chocolates, Orley Whip or whipping cream, and tennis biscuits. You go home with all your peppermint crisp fridge tart ingredients, and you make the tart. You invite some friends around for tart and tea. You all enjoy the tart, and some friends even ask you if you would be happy to make them a tart for their next event if they pay you enough that you make a small profit. Your tart is now making you some money. About a month later you casually saunter into the shop where you walked out with the ingredients for your tart … Read entire article »

Easy Invoicing with X-Sheet Invoicing
Invoicing is a pain in the neck. I’m sure my standard 7 (Grade 9) Accountancy teacher was psychic when she invited me to leave her class, never to return. Because I am stubborn, I stayed, and managed to fool the Matric exam markers into believing I knew more than I did, and I subsequently passed Matric Accounting. Records and record keeping are not my strong points. I prefer to just do my work, get it done and move on to the next project. However, I also need to live in the real world, and I do need to get paid for the work that I do. In the real world, people pay when they get an invoice (most of the time). At TnT Unleashed we don’t carry any stock items, as all … Read entire article »

Have Degree but Can’t Find Job in South Africa
What? I do NOT have a degree but I have a job. If you have a degree but can’t find a job in South Africa, work for yourself like I do. My boyfriend and I work from home because he could not find a job in South Africa. He does not have a degree and neither do I. Yes, it’s hard work working from home, but at least we have a job in South Africa, degree or no degree. How on earth did we manage to start working from home without having a degree? Is that an odd question? I would think it is easier for people who have a degree to start working from home in South Africa. And yet many people in South Africa who have no degree are working … Read entire article »

Importance of Target Market and Where You Live
When trying to save on your advertising costs, it helps if you can target people driving or walking by your home, simply by putting up a sign on your gate, your wall, or on your front door. When thinking about what you might want to try doing from home to earn a little extra income, or even a fulltime income, take a look at your surroundings. Who stays in your neighbourhood, or frequents your neighbourhood? If you live across the road from a retirement complex, do you think it would be a better idea to sell indoor plants or to sell handcrafted skateboards? If you live just down the road from a primary school, do you think it would be a better idea to sell good quality second hand educational books or … Read entire article »
